What is Whole30?

About

Whole30 is a nutritional reset program designed by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig in 2009 that is designed to help vanquish cravings and habits. It is primarily based on the paleo template – it emphasizes eating nutrient-dense, whole foods like pastured meats, eggs, and vegetables.

GOALS OF WHOLE30

  • Identify food sensitivities
  • Restore a healthy metabolismac
  • Heal the digestive track
  • Balance the immune system
  • Stabilize mood

By accomplishing these goals, Whole30 can help you learn how the foods you're eating day after day are impacting you and your long term health.

How does it work?

As the name implies, Whole30 starts with a 30-day reset phase to establish a healthy baseline. We will eliminate all potentially inflammatory and problematic foods from your diet: grains, dairy, sugar, alcohol, legumes, additives like MSG and carrageenan, and even “treat” foods like baked goods. Instead, you will eat exclusively whole, real food: meat, seafood, eggs, tons of vegetables, some fruit, and good fats from fruits, oils, nuts, and seeds. Doesn’t sound too bad, right?

After the reset period, we’ll reintroduce some of the foods that you’ve eliminated — perhaps it’ll be dairy or legumes — to see how your body tolerates them. If you can drink a glass of milk and still feel great, great!

Once we’ve identified the foods your body can and cannot tolerate, we’ll work together to create a meal plan to allow for flexibility in your new and improved diet.

Not only will this method help you establish a sustainable, healthy lifestyle, it also can help you lose weight and improve body composition — without restricting calories. Other Whole30 participants often report an increase in energy, improved athletic performance, better sleep, and enhanced focus and mental clarity.

I know that it’s not always easy to stick to a diet plan like this one, which is why I provide counseling sessions before and after the reset program, unlimited support each and every day of the reset, and tips and recipes once a week. See my Services Offered page for more details.
